Alice J. Haile passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020, in Atlanta, GA at the age of 91. Alice was born on her parents' farm in Vining, MN in 1928. Soon after graduating from Henning High School in 1946, she moved to Los Angeles, CA where she worked for Western Union Telegraph until her marriage to Fred Haile in 1950. In 1964 she relocated with her husband and their three children to his home state of Tennessee. They resided in Cookeville where Alice worked for GTE for over 20 years. Soon after retiring Alice moved back to Minnesota where she lived in Henning for 15 blissful years before relocating to Georgia to be closer to her children.

Alice will be remembered for her warm smile, easy-going personality and love of laughter. She cherished her church life and was a member of the Folden Lutheran Church in Vining, MN. While living in Cookeville Alice was one of the founding members of the Heavenly Host Lutheran Church. Alice also enjoyed traveling, following politics and current events and had a great affection for children and animals.
Alice is preceded in death by her husband Fred D. Haile, parents Olaf and Agnes (Stene) Gunderson, sister and brother-in-law Crystal & Leroy Anderson, brother and sister-in-law Truman and Ruth Gunderson.
Alice is survived by her children Sandra Haile (Steve) Poling of Clinton, TN, Jack (Vicki) Haile of Anna Maria Island, FL and Carol Haile (Robert Hoff) of Smyrna, GA; grandchildren Jessica Pittman, Silas Black, Katie Painter, Sarah Beth Haile, Robert Poling, Rebekah Poling, Elizabeth Diaz; great-grandchildren McKynna and Kiersten Locke, Madelyn Black, Tia Davis, Sydney Poling, Victoria Poling, Neva Poling, Karlee Carpenter, Kortnee Carpenter; great-great-grandchild Anthony Tedesco, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Ms. Haile will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2020, beginning at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Andrew Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, February 5, from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
